The large mosaic "Sendung" is located next to the main entrance to the University building at Petersplatz in Basel. It was created from 1938 to 1946 by the well-known Swiss artist Walter Eglin (1895-1966), and is considered one of his master pieces.
The mosaic has a surface area of about 80 square meters and contains only stones that occur in the closer region.
