These reliefs are located at the wall of the bridge head next to Nydegg church in the old town of Bern. They depict the foundation of the city of Bern by Duke Berthold V of Zähringen in 1191.

The four bronze plates were created in 1847 by Karl Emanuel Tscharner. They were part of the pedestal of the Zähringer monument (created by an other unknown artist), that was erected in that year near the cathedral. In 1968 the monument was reloceted to its current location near Nydegg church and mounted on a new, smaller pedestal. The four bronze plates were added to the wall behind the monument.
