Died in November 2012, Serge Maubourguet lived in the town for 12 years. His girlfriend Anne Boutroux wanted an exhibition bringing together some of his works and the works of his friends.
Who was Serge Maubourguet?
Born in the Landes in 1960, he began by painting the very young, initiated by his father. Preferences will soon to the abstract. Then he turned to wood sculpture, using what he could get his hands like beams of recovery. He began training in metalwork companions but his encounter with a master craftsman in wrought iron changes the short his life. That's when he began to work wrought iron and wood and metal mixture. Where has he worked?
He worked at Cental 7 buildings of the old iron mines Nyoiseau where he made many metal sculptures. In the region, he exhibited at Saint-Macaire and participated in the symposium Oudon. Through the symposium Montjean it became known and achieved monumental benches redwood trunks. These benches are visible Montjean Bressuire, Segre Beaupreau and even Canada. In 2012, it has yet achieved Montjean, it was his last work. For 2 or 3 years, he was also awarded the painting exploring a new style trompe l'oeil.

Décédé en novembre 2012, Serge Maubourguet habitait la commune depuis 12 ans. Sa compagne Anne Boutroux a souhaité réaliser une exposition rassemblant certains de ses travaux et des oeuvres de ses amis.
Qui était Serge Maubourguet ?
Né dans les Landes en 1960, il a commencé par la peinture très jeune, initié par son père. Ses préférences vont vite vers l'abstrait. Puis il s'est orienté vers la sculpture bois, utilisant ce qui lui tombe sous la main comme des poutres de récupération. Il avait commencé une formation en ferronnerie chez les compagnons mais sa rencontre avec un maître ferronnier d'art change le court de sa vie. C'est alors qu'il s'est mis à travailler le fer forgé puis le mélange bois et métal. Il réalisait alors du mobilier car l'art ne nourrissait pas son homme. Il a également pratiqué la sculpture de la pierre.
Où a-t-il oeuvré ?
Il a travaillé à Cental 7, dans les bâtiments des anciennes mines de fer à Nyoiseau où il a réalisé de nombreuses sculptures métalliques. Dans la région, il a exposé à Saint-Macaire et participé au symposium d'Oudon. Grâce au symposium de Montjean, il s'est fait connaître et a réalisé des bancs monumentaux dans des troncs de séquoia. Ces bancs sont visibles à Montjean, Bressuire, Segré, Beaupréau et même au Canada. En 2012, il en a encore réalisé un à Montjean, ce fut sa dernière oeuvre. Depuis 2 ou 3 ans, il s'était également remis à la peinture explorant un nouveau style le trompe l'oeil.
