In July 2009 the City of Rincon de la Victoria inaugurated the sculpture of an owl by artist Francisco Martin and a plaque in honor of poet Manuel Alcántara in the street named after the writer.
"Many years ago I started collecting owls as a symbol of wisdom and since then, all my friends bring me copies from the most remote places (...) I have a collection of several hundred, especially at home in Rincón, which is the place where I lived the longest" (Manuel Alcántara)
