ABOUT THE STATUE:
"The Luther Memorial in Hanover is a bronze statue of the reformer Martin Luther in the center of the capital of Lower Saxony. It is located on the right (south) side of the main portal of the church market.
History
The design of 1899 created Dopmeyer Carl, who died in the same year. Ferdinand Hartzer completed the monument in it. On November 10, 1900, the birthday of Luther, it was unveiled. Originally, the statue of Luther standing on a more than three feet high pedestal. At lower pedestals to his sides Elisabeth and Ernst von Calenberg were shown sitting, who had prepared the way for the Reformation in the Guelph duchies. The location was in the middle of the south side of the Market Church.

His hymns influenced the development of singing in churches. His marriage to Katharina von Bora set a model for the practice of clerical marriage, allowing Protestant priests to marry.
In his later years, while suffering from several illnesses and deteriorating health, Luther became increasingly antisemitic, writing that Jewish homes should be destroyed, their synagogues burned, money confiscated and liberty curtailed.
