This plaque in Liberation Square is on the wall of the building where British forces raised the British Flag when the island was liberated from German occupation at the end of World War II.

The building used to be the railway terminus but has since been redeveloped and contains retail units and restaurants.
The plaque was erected by La Vingtaine de la Ville. A vingtaine is a political subdivision of Jersey. The Vingtaine de la Ville is one of the six vingtaines of Saint Helier in Jersey, and roughly corresponds to the historic town centre and harbours.

These days a blue flag flies from the same position with the name Liberty Wharf on it, the new name for the railway terminus building.
