County of stone: Lafayette County
Location of stone: old US 24, E. of Tabo Creek, 2½ miles W. of Dover

This was erected after the initial Santa Fe trail was traveled by wagons, but it is ON the Santa Fe trail.
What makes it so interesting to me is the text reads DOVER - 36 miles
No the marker is exactly 36 miles W. of the start of the Santa Fe trail, but only 2½ mile W. of Dover.
Does it mean it is in Dover? Doubt it because the location is where the town, originally named Terre Bonne Grove and later change to Tabo Creek use to be.
Was it the Dover Stage Line that ran this way that erected the mile marker?

This streatch of road was originally the Osage Trace, then the Santa Fe Trail and then the Dover Roadand finally becoming U.S. 24
