At the 'Reutlinger Straße' in Tübingen, Germany, Baden-Württemberg exists an old memorial for a supposed participant of the olympic games.
The French (!) inscription at the memorial mentions 'Capitaine Rene Fombonne'. But it is impossible to find any informations about him.
The insciption of the memorial:
'Groupe Sportif de Garnision
Capitaine Rene Fombonne'
It seems to be from the former French military units, who were stationed here.
