We can find in Monte Brasil, a hill next to the city of Angra, the last remaining Signal Station of this kind on Portugal.
It´s a high pole with a sistem of moving balloons that allows (allowed) to transmit messages from there to others places.
Along with the pole system there´s the old user house, nearby, where we can find several tables with the explanations for the different sign combinations.
The link provided is for a very complete, although in Portuguese, explanation about the local... even so, those extra pics are great for understanding it.
Sadly, there's no plaque or similar at the spot and only by researching info for understanding what is those things I realize it was very unique.
