In the middle of the 15th century a five-story-tall square tower was built. Before the lighthouse in Sandhammaren was built a coal fire on the roof of the tower warned seamen of the dangerous sand reefs, which claimed many lives. This castle was built around 1500.
The famous astronomer Tyge Brahe became interested in astronomy when he was visiting his uncle here.

Today the castle is a private home.
