This old stone crusher is located at a hiking path in the forested hill south of Witterswil. There was a chalk quarry nearby until the 1950s, where this machine was used. It is mounted atop a stone pedestal and quite rusty.
The machine was built by a company called U. Ammann in Langenthal. It is also described on the information plate that are mounted along the forest hikes of the canton Solothurn (Plate #11 of hike #5), but without any details.
