Der Findling wurde in den 1950er Jahren eingeweiht. Nach dem Mauerbau jedoch, war das Denkmal von der DDR-Führung nicht mehr erwünscht. So kam es dazu, dass es in den 70er Jahren über Nacht zerstört und im nahe gelegenen Kurparkteich versenkt wurde.
1998 wurde Fragmente des Gedenksteins bei einem ABM-Projekt auf dem Grund des Sees gefunden. Dank der Arbeit des Steinmetzes, konnten die Fragmente auf dem Findling am 10.Jahrestag zur Grenzöffnung 1989 eingeweiht werden. Mittlerweile konnte noch ein weiteres Stück des Granits wieder an die Oberfläche gebracht werden. Nun fehlt noch ein Stück des Denkmals. Wobei nicht nur die Schierker davon überzeugt sind, dass auch dieses Stück irgendwann, seinen Platz im Findling einnehmen wird.
The boulder was inaugurated in the 1950s. After the wall was built, however, the monument of the GDR leadership was no longer desired. So it happened that it was destroyed in the 70s overnight and sunk in the nearby spa pond.
1998 fragments of the memorial stone was found in a ABM project on the bottom of the lake. Thanks to the work of the stonemason, the fragments could be inaugurated on the boulder on the 10th anniversary of the opening of the border in 1989. In the meantime, could still be brought to the surface again another piece of granite. Is still missing a piece of the monument. Whereby not only the Schierker are convinced that this piece sometime, its place would be in the boulder.
