Placed here in 1991 to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the twinning of Maldon with Cuijk, these giant links are in a prominent position in Maldon's Promenade Park.

Cuijk is a municipality and a town in the southern Netherlands and is of pre-historic origin. Its existence is recorded on the Roman roadmap Tabula Peutingeriana under the name of Ceuclum. In January 2014 the population was recorded as 24,780.

Maldon is a town on the Blackwater estuary in Essex, England. It is the seat of the Maldon district and starting point of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. In 2001 the population of the Maldon district was 59,418, whilst Malton town itself had a population of 15,513.
