"By decree of 05.12.1682 of the Bishop of Kostanz Schoppernau was finally an independent parish.

1710, the church was built with a tower for 3 bells by the architect Josef Brenner (1749) of Gräsalp in the dimensions, as was passed until 1957. The nave was given a Holztäferdecke. 1796 this ceiling was removed and the 3 local plasterers Js. Anton Snake (1768), Josh. Simon Moosbrugger (1774) and Franz Michael Felder (1759) Kronenwirt now created a plaster ceiling (vaulted ceiling) and decorated the background for the paintings and windows with rich stucco, which still adorns the church and gives her a friendly character. In the same year painted John Gaissenhoff Pfronten the vault frescoes in the choir vault Assumption, surrounded by images of the Holy Nepomuk, Wendelin, Alois and Joseph; in the nave of the Last Supper and the Resurrection of Christ; in the troughs of the vault in the four large medallion of the Church.

1928
the church was renovated by artist Marte (Image: St. Canisius in the choir)
