Located directly under the enormous scoreboard at the north end of the football field, this statue and plaque honor a man whose coaching career was absolutely legendary.

COACH FRANK BROYLES
Frank Broyles served the University of Arkansas for more than a
half-century as the head football coach (1958-76) and athletic director
(1973-2007). In his 19 seasons as head football coach, Broyles compiled a
record of 144-58-5, including seven Southwest Conference championships,
10 bowl appearances and the 1964 Football Writers Association of
America and Helms Athletic Foundation National Championships.
As men's athletic director, Broyles guided a program that claimed
41 national championships, 57 Southwest Conferenceand 48 Southeastern
Conference titles and earned 22 football bowl bids. During his tenure,
Broyles oversaw the construction and renovation of all athletic facilities
on campus including the renovation of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback
Stadium and the construction of Bud Walton Arena and Baum Stadium.
Broyles was a member of the inaugural class of the UA Sports Hall of
Honor, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983. He
is also a member of the Arkansas Sports, Arkansas Broadcasters,
Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Gator Bowl, Georgia Tech and and the state of
Georgia halls of fame.
Each year, in his honor, the Broyles Award is presented to the country's
top assistant football coach. In 2007, the field at Donald W.
Reynolds Razorback Stadium was named Frank Broyles Field. On Nov. 23,
2012, a ceremony was held to dedicate this statue of Coach Broyles as a
lasting tribute to his remarkable legacy.
Sculpted by Dr. Gary Renegar, the statue is based on several signature
images of Coach Broyles throughout his coaching career, including his
jubilant reaction as the clock ran out in the Razorbacks' win over Nebraska
at the 1965 Cotton Bowl clinching the national championship.
