Constructed in the first third of the 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages. Its name comes from the golden shine it projected on the river, due to its building materials (a mixture of mortar, lime and pressed hay). The tower is divided into three levels, with the third and uppermost being circular in shape and added in 1769. The Torre del Oro houses the Naval Museum containing models, navigation charts, compasses and ancient documents.
Ecos del Rocío is the name of a Spanish Andalusian musical band specialized in singing sevillanas (a type of folk music and dance of Seville and its region). Current members are Miguel, Juan Manuel, Paco and Jesús. The first album was released in 1984 and since then the group has become very popular among fans of the genre.
