"Constructed in 1889, the Dr. Brooks Drug Store Building (PPOl62) is a two-story brick building with strong Italianate design influence seen in the heavy projecting cornice with brackets and arched windows with pedimented window hoods on the front (east). The first floor storefronts feature cast iron posts. The exterior of this building was covered in stucco in the 1950s and renovated in 1984 at which time the stucco was removed."

"C & D Drug Store was opened in August 1958 by Clarles Oates and Dale Walker. The name C & D stands for Charles and Dale. C & D Drug Store’s location has housed a drug store since 1877 making it one of the oldest drug stores in Arkansas. In 1984, the store underwent a major renovation and expanded. Also, included in the expansion, was the snack bar. It currently seats 36 and is a popular lunchtime spot. Other remodels and updates have occurred including a pharmaceutical compounding area allowing the drug store to customize medications for patients. C & D Drug Store is one of the few compounding pharmacists in the River Valley.

Pharmacist R.D. Walker has been honored with the local Best Pharmacist award. From the beginning, the motto of C & D Drug Store has been “Courtesy and Service”. This attitude continues today. The pharmacists and staff make every effort to get to know every customer and take care of all their medicine needs. They genuinely want to improve the lives of their customers.

This building was constructed in 1877 and is the only building to survive the fire of 1906. This building has housed a Drug Store since 1877, making it the oldest Drug Store location in Arkansas.

My Commentary:

This was just a very neat old small town drug store in a small town.
