Depicted gear crown wheel of Francis turbine with pinion is located on bank of Vltava (Moldau) river in the centre of town Kralupy nad Vltavou in Central-Bohemian region of the Czech Republic.
The wheel was a part of 700 kW Francis turbine in hydroelectric power plant Mirejovice located on Vltava river ca 3 km northwards from this technical public display. Interesting is so called "Citroen arrow" toothing with quiet running and slow wearing-out. This toothing became a symbol of Citroen company. The turbine, built by Czech company Ceskomoravská Kolben-Danek (CKD) in 1924, was in trouble-free operation until reconstruction of the power plant in 2011, when it was donated to the town Kralupy and displayed here...
