Der Fernmeldeturm Koblenz (TV/Radio) steht im Stadtwald von Koblenz auf dem Gipfel des Kühkopfs. Der Fernmeldeturm ist nach dem SWR-Sender Koblenz das zweithöchste Bauwerk im Hunsrück und das dritthöchste Bauwerk in Rheinland-Pfalz.
Der von 1974 bis 1976 als vertikale Kragarmkonstruktion ursprünglich 255 Meter hohe Fernmeldeturm fällt durch seine schlichte Form auf. Der Turmfuß ist wegen der besonders hoch liegenden Gründungssohle stark ausgestellt und birgt im inneren vier Geschosse für Aufenthalts- und Lagerräume. Das Fundament des höchsten so genannten Typenturms[3] hat einen Durchmesser von 28 Metern mit einer Gründungstiefe von vier Metern. Im Schaft befindet sich ein Aufzug und eine Stahlbetontreppe mit 784 Stufen bis zum Turmkorb.
Die relativ breite, im Durchmesser 40 Meter, doppelstöckige Turmkanzel in 150 Meter Höhe wird durch einen sich nach oben verjüngenden Betonschaft durchstoßen und wirkt damit wie ein riesiger Zahnstocher. Der Schaftdurchmesser am unteren Kopfansatz beträgt nur 5,6 Meter. Stahlfachwerke, die mittels Zugdiagonalen im unteren Betriebsgeschoss sitzen, dienen der Turmkanzel als Tragwerk.
Analoges Radio (UKW)
Der erste landesweite private Radiosender wurde am 30. April 1986 mit dem Start von RPR1 an diesem Standort aufgeschaltet. Ihm folgte am 9. Dezember 1991 mit RPR Zwei eine zweite landesweite Senderkette. Dieses Programm wurde jedoch im August 2003 wieder eingestellt. Seitdem sendet bigFM auf den Frequenzen von RPR Zwei.
Digitales Radio (DAB+)
Das Digitalradio (DAB+) wird in vertikaler Polarisation und im Gleichwellenbetrieb mit anderen Sendern ausgestrahlt. Seit dem 16. November 2011 wird dabei der DAB+ Sendestandard verwendet, die Ausstrahlung im DAB Sendestandard auf Kanal 12A wurde abgeschaltet. Am 29. August 2012 erfolgte die Aufschaltung des Bundesmuxx auf Kanal 5C mit 10 kW ERP Sendeleistung.
Digitales Fernsehen (DVB-T)
Seit dem 26. August 2008 wird vom Fernmeldeturm Koblenz das digitale Antennenfernsehen (DVB-T) mit drei öffentlich-rechtlichen Multiplex-Kanälen für die Region Koblenz abgestrahlt.[7] Die horizontale Polarisation wird beibehalten, Antennen müssen nicht gedreht werden. Die heutigen digitalen Ausstrahlungen laufen im Gleichwellenbetrieb (Single Frequency Network) mit anderen Sendestandorten.

The relatively wide , 40 meters in diameter , two-story control tower at 150 meters height is pierced by an upwardly tapered concrete shaft and thus acts like a giant toothpick. The shaft diameter at the bottom of the head restraint is only 5.6 meters . Steel trusses that sit by tension diagonals in the lower operating level, the control tower to serve as a supporting framework .
Analogue radio (FM )
The first nationwide private radio station was established on 30 April 1986 with the launch of RPR1 switched at this location . He was followed on 9 December 1991 RPR Two a second nationwide broadcasting network. This program was , however, reinstated in August 2003. Since then sends bigFM on the frequencies of two RPR .
Digital radio (DAB +)
The Digital Radio (DAB +) is emitted in the vertical polarization and single-frequency operation with other transmitters . Since the 16th November 2011 is doing the DAB + broadcast standard used in the broadcasting DAB transmission standard on channel 12A is turned off. On 29 August 2012 was the intrusion of Bundesmuxx on channel 5C with 10 kW ERP transmitter power.
Digital TV (DVB -T)
Since 26 August 2008 is the digital terrestrial television ( DVB -T) radiated from the telecommunications tower Koblenz with three public multiplex channels for the region Koblenz. [7 ] The horizontal polarization is maintained, antennas must not be rotated. Today's digital broadcasts in a synchronous wave mode ( single frequency network ) with other transmitter sites .
