[GER] Auf einem ca. 2m hohem Sockel tront der Postillion vor der ehemaligen Postfiliale (Weiße Rose auf der Höhe von Nr. 19). Die Figur wurde von Richard Kuöhl um 1950 (deutscher Bildhauer 1880–1961) geschaffen. Das Denkmal wird unter Nr. 25958 auf der Liste der Kulturdenkmäler in Hamburg. Richard Kuöhl war "Architekturplastiker“ und führte einen Großteil des Bauschmucks an Fritz Schumachers Staatsbauten aus.
Der Postillon war der Gespannführer eines Pferdefuhrwerks, dass als Postkutsche im Postbetrieb zur Brief- und Personenbeförderung eingesetzt wurde. Der Postillon trug uniformierte Kleidung und führte ein Posthorn mit. Hierdurch war ersichtlich und gegebenenfalls auch hörbar, dass er zur Annahme von Postsendungen berechtigt war und dass ihm Vorrang beim Benutzen der Verkehrswege, Fähren und Brücken zustand.
[ENG] On an approximately 2m high base Dominating the postillion in front of the former local post office (White Rose at the height of No. 19). The figure was created by Richard Kuöhl 1950 (German sculptor 1880-1961). The monument is under No. 25958 on the list of cultural monuments of Hamburg. Richard Kuöhl was "architectural sculptor" and led much of the architectural decoration of Fritz Schumacher's state buildings.
The postilion was the team leader of a horse-drawn work, which was used as a stagecoach in the post-operation for letter mail and passenger transport. The coachman wore uniformed clothing and led a post horn. This was seen and possibly heard that he was authorized to accept mail and that he deserved priority when using the roads, ferries and bridges.
