Doumo di Napoli is one of the city's grandest cathedrals. Above the altar one will find a large dome. The fresco cycle around the dome illustrates the life of San Gennaro. It was painted by Domenichino.

San Gennaro relics are preserved in the cathedral.

King Carlo I d'Angio built this cathedral in the 13th century on the site of a 6th-century building that, in turn, stood next to the 4th-century Basilica di Santa Restituta, which is now part of the Duomo.
