This bronze statue of Vera Katz sits on the Eastbank Esplanade, a 2.5 mile waterfront loop between the Steel and Hawthorne bridges. unveiled in 2003, this lifesize statue of her shows he sitting with legs crossed and hands clasped. Vera served as Mayor from 1993 to 2005. While often criticized, one cannot argue that she left her mark on the city. Her political career only ended when she left public service to deal with her breast cancer.
