This museum deserves is a strong recommendation, for two reasons. First, it provides and interesting, well presented, and informative history of Malang city from the days of hunter-gathers to the contemporary era. There are diorama, plaques, models, and texts. Second, there is a mouse trap on display, of a design I had never seen before. Amazing gadget.
The Museum is new, only a year old, apparently, though I am not certain, there being a slight language gap between myself and the Museum guide, who kindly accompanied me on my traverse of the establishment. It is located near the city centre, close to the Town Hall and the Independence Monument. Entry is the colossal sum of 15,000 rupiah ($1.50). There is a row of local nick-nacks on a shelf, which is the gift shop.
