Ripley's Aquarium of Canada is the newest and largest indoor public aquarium in Canada, having opened to the public October 16, 2013.

The current brochure for this new major attraction describes the facility in this way:
The Aquarium is a 12,500 square-metre (135,000 square-foot) awe-inspiring attraction with more than 5.7 million litres (1.5 million gallons) of water depicting marine and freshwater habitats from around the world. ((source: http://www.ripleyaquariums.com/canada/files/2013/03/Ripleys-RackBrochure.pdf; accessed Jan 14, 2014)

There are approximately 16,000 aquatic animals and 450 different species maintained within the $130,000,000 facility.

Highlights of the facility include:

Dangerous Reef: the largest exhibit in the aquarium at nearly 2.5 million litres, which houses Sand Tiger Shark, Sandbar Shark, Roughtail Stingray, Green Sea Turtle, Yellowtail Snapper, Porkfish, Tarpon, and dozens of other species.
A 96 metre (315 foot) long moving walkway through an acrylic tunnel deep below the Dangerous Reef Tank, allows for extreme close-up views of the sharks, turtles, and other species.
Ray Bay: At over 350,000 litres, Ray Bay features dozens of rays from three distinct species (Spotted Eagle Ray, Cownose Ray, Southern Stingray). Visitors even have the opportunity to touch the rays as the swim by.

The aquarium is conveniently located in downtown Toronto, within a few hundred meters of Union Station (providing TTC subway service, GO Train and VIA Rail service) and even closer to other major attractions such as the CN Tower, major league sports venues (Rogers Center, Air Canada Centre), and short walk away from the Lake Ontario waterfront
