In the 18th film of the James Bond series, Bond (Pierce Brosnan) travels to Hamburg to steal a decoder device. He stays in the Hotel Atlantic where he also meets and seduces Carver's (the villain's) wife (Teri Hatcher). Both are watched by Carver's henchman Mr. Stamper (Götz Otto). Bond escapes over the roof, gets to the garage and remote controls his car to crash into the car rental store.

The building seen in outside-shots is the actual Hotel Atlantic Kempinski, situated at the bank of the Alster lake in Hamburg. It is one of the best known and most luxurius hotels in the city. But only the fassade was used for shots, the actual hotel suite scenes where filmed at another location outside of Germany.
