This colorful sculpture, "Locomotive Monument", an abstraction of a locomotive, was placed here in 1988 to pay tribute to Tacoma's railroading past. Although it is called a monument, it definitely fits this category of abstract sculpture. The sculpture was designed and created by Douglas Charles Granum.
It's best to park along Pacific Avenue in the downtown core (or as close as you can find parking) and walk to the sculpture, as there isn't really any parking available near the piece.
This spot is also home to Team Hikenutty's all time favorite geocache hide, Art of Tacoma: Locomotive Monument. If you are in the area be sure to look for this creatively hidden cache.
