The water tower was designed by architects in Olst PJ de Gruyter and C. Poederoyen. The tower was built in 1962. The tower has a height of 41.55 meters and had a water tank with a capacity of 900 m³. The building serves as the bell tower of the nearby Roman Catholic Church. The tower stands on the municipal monument. In 2004, water company Vitens from Zwolle sold the water tower for 32 thousand euro. In the summer of 2006, they started rebuilding the tower. In the tower there are five two storey apartments. The church bells remain up in the tower.
De watertoren in Olst is ontworpen door architecten P.J. de Gruyter en C. Poederoyen. De toren is gebouwd in 1962. De toren heeft een hoogte van 41,55 meter en had één waterreservoir met een inhoud van 900 m³. Het gebouw dient als klokkentoren van de dichtbij gelegen Rooms-katholieke kerk. De toren staat op de gemeentelijke monumentenlijst. In 2004 heeft watermaatschappij Vitens uit Zwolle de watertoren verkocht voor 32 duizend euro. In de zomer van 2006 is men een verbouwing gestart in de toren. In de toren zijn vijf appartementen gerealiseerd met elk twee woonlagen. De kerkklokken boven in de toren bleven behouden.
