A trailhead for the Deadmans Bay section of the 265 km East Coast Trail that runs along the entire east coast of Newfoundland's rugged Avalon Peninsula. Deadmans Bay Path runs 10.6 km south to Blackhead, is rated "Difficult" by the East Coast Trail Association and will take the average hiker 5 to 8 hours to complete.
265 km of the Trail have been hardened to a world class hiking standard: 45 km from Cape St. Francis south to historic St. John's, and 220 km from Fort Amherst (this trailhead) to Cappahayden.
The East Coast Trail consists of a series of 24 paths each with a northern and a southern trailhead that is marked with distinctive signage. Use of ECTA maps is highly recommended for locating trailheads, learning about distances and understanding how we rate the level of difficulty of each individual paths.
