The Quill Lakes area is one of the most vital birds areas on earth with 100,000 acres of saline lakes, beaches, freshwater marshes and mixed grass prairie. This provides nesting and staging habitat for one million migratory birds including the peregrine falcon, ferruginous hawk, and the endangered piping plover and whooping crane.
