«Érigé à l’avant de l’hôtel de ville d’Edmundston en 1950 (1re et 2e parties) et en 1994 (3e partie), le cénotaphe d'Edmundston est un obélisque de granit qui se dresse fièrement, honorant la mémoire des anciens combattants de la région.

Le cénotaphe d’Edmundston est reconnu comme lieu patrimonial local pour son rôle visant à souligner l’effort de guerre déployé par les nombreux soldats de la région dans l’espoir de voir surgir la fin de ces guerres. Cet obélisque de granit rend hommage aux vétérans et aux soldats morts lors des conflits mondiaux que furent la première guerre mondiale (1914-1918), la deuxième guerre mondiale (1939-1945) et la guerre de Corée (1950-1953). Il est érigé au coeur de la ville d’Edmundston en 1950.

"Erected in front of the Edmundston city hall in 1950 (1st and 2nd parts) and 1994 (3rd part), Edmundston Cenotaph is a granite obelisk that stands proudly, honouring the memory of the region’s war veterans.

Edmundston Cenotaph is designated a Local Historic Place because of its role in commemorating the war efforts of the many soldiers from the region. This granite obelisk monument pays tribute to the veterans and the war dead of the First World War (1914-1918), the Second World War (1939-1945), and the Korean War (1950-1953). It was erected in the heart of the city of Edmundston in 1950.

Mesurant approximativement 15 pieds de haut, il est situé en avant de l’hôtel de ville. Une croix orne sa partie supérieure. Les noms des soldats décédés lors de chacune des trois guerres sont gravés sur le monument qui repose sur une plinthe et des pavés en granit. The Edmundston cenotaph is a 15 foot black granite obelisk monument. Located in front of City Hall, a cross adorns its upper portion. The names of the soldiers who died in the three wars are engraved on the monument which sits on a granite base and pavers.
