Es wird angenommen, daß das Achteckhaus Darmstadt am Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts für den hessischen Kanzler Anton Wolff von Todenwarth vom Baumeister Jakob Müller als achteckiges Gartenhaus errichtet wurde.
Der zweigeschossige, massive Renaissancebau mit einem nach Westen vorgelagerten Treppenturm und einem Zeltdach steht auf einem quadratischen Keller mit vier Kreuzgratgewölben und einer Mittelsäule, der aus dem 16. Jahrhundert stammt.
It is believed, that the Achteckhaus Darmstadt was built in the early 17th century for the Hessian Chancellor Anton Wolff von Todenwarth by architect Jakob Müller as octagonal summer house.
The two-storey, massive Renaissance building with a western preceding stair tower and a dome stands on a square basement with four groin vaults and a central column, which dates from the 16th century.
