The Capitol Reflecting Pool marks the most western part of Union Square, the area between here and the Capitol. The pool attacks wildlife such as birds to get a drink or to cool off in the hot summers. The pool was built in the 60's and 70's. It is meant to create a more abstract picture towards the Capitol and the Grant Memorial.
This reflecting pool lies west of the Grant memorial and the Capitol. On clear days, it makes a great spot to take amazing photos. It pool is 6 acres in size and you will need to walk around it, not swim, to get to the capitol.
