In the centre of village Chlaba (hun. Helemba) on slovak-hungarian border stands carved wooden column as a millenium memorial of St.Stephen I., first king of Hungary. Besides many other ornaments, St.Stephen's crown is dominating artwork on the top of this column. On the front lower part we can see the Coat of Arms of Chlaba and St.Stephen's portrait. On it's side is carved text Millennium 2000. Author of the work is Nagy Janos.

Stephen I, also Saint Stephen, (Hungarian: I. Szent István) was the last Grand Prince of the Hungarians between 997 and 1000 or 1001, and the first King of Hungary from 1000 or 1001 until his death in 1038.

More information is available in wikipedia, for example.
