This sculpture of St. George shows him standing over a dragon which he is about to slay with a sword he holds above his head. A shiel is held by his left hand. The work is set on the top of the first level of the famous House of the Blackheads in Riga. St. George is probably honored here because that Society's origins are traced to St. George’s Night Uprising in 1343–1346 against Danish and German rulers and landlords.
