Established in 1956, Safari Ostrich Farm is the first show farm in South Africa where the Kenyan Red and Zimbabwe Blue ostriches as well as the local South African breed can be viewed.
Professional, multi-lingual guides show you all the different facets of ostrich farming – and tell you stories of the Victorian-era Ostrich Boom, when ostrich feathers were one of South Africa's most important export products. You'll get close to the birds, too – and if you're particularly adventurous (and you weigh less than 80 kg), you might like to try sitting on one. In our group, many people volunteered to sit on the ostrich for the picture and most of us enjoyed standing on the solid ostrich eggs.
