[FR] Statue en bronze réalisée par Emile Hébert et installée le 6 juillet 1882. Sur le socle, on trouve 4 plaques de bronze également, la première indiquant le nom de l'écrivain, la seconde représentant les 2 personnages de l'auteur Gargantua & Pantagruel, la troisième précise les acteurs de l'installation de cette statue et la quatrième représente 2 autres personnages, Hypocrate & Galien.
François Rabelais est un prêtre catholique, médecin et écrivain humaniste français de la Renaissance, né à La Devinière à Seuilly, près de Chinon (dans l’ancienne province de Touraine), en 1483 ou 1495 selon les sources, et mort à Paris le 9 avril 1553.

On the base, we find 4 bronze plates also, the first one indicating the name of the writer, the second representing 2 characters of the author Gargantua and Pantagruel, the third specifies the actors of the installation of this statue and the fourth represents 2 other characters, Hypocrate and Galien
François Rabelais is a catholic priest, a doctor and a French humanist writer of the Renaissance, born in Devinière to Seuilly, near Chinon (in the former(old) province of Touraine), in 1483 or 1495 according to sources, and died in Paris on April 9th, 1553.
