Dempster Water Pump - Sheep Creek Campground - Northport, WA - Hand Operated Water Pumps on Waymarking.com

Manufactured by the Dempster Mill Manufacturing Company, of Beatrice, Nebraska, this old pump looks to be in pretty good shape. The handle has been removed, but during the summer this pump could still be used as a water supply in the campground.

The Dempster Company was formed in 1878 by Charles B. Dempster and in 1886 began manufacturing windmills, pumps, water tanks, towers, well machines, and related equipment. It's not known when they produced their last hand pump. They're still in business, still in Beatrice and still produce water pumps - submersibles though.

It's anyone's guess where they got the pump from. In years gone by there would have been dozens in the area, one of which seemingly found its way to this campground.

Sign will indicate the campground. Drive through the campground and one will inevitably drive past the water pump. Park right beside it.
