If you visit Florence you can find this in the Piazza San Felice that is a small square which is not much visited by tourists.
In the base of the column there is a plaque that reads:

"The Battle of Marciano (also known as the Battle of Scannagallo) occurred in the countryside of Marciano della Chiana, near Arezzo, Tuscany, on August 2, 1554, during the Italian War of 1551. The battle marked the defeat of the Republic of Siena in its war against the Duchy of Florence, and resulted in Siena losing its independence and being absorbed into the Grand Duchy of Tuscany."

"The second column of the celebration of Cosimo I was to symbolize the victory at the Battle of Marciano . Was placed in Piazza San Felice , the intersection of Via Maggio and Via Romana neighborhood, close to Palazzo Pitti.
