This delightful mural lines the inside of one of Vail's bus stops. The glazed tiles are both a timeline and art piece completed by the local children. The mural begins with native Americans and trappers and ends with the current skiing industry. The tiles are in excellent condition and the colors are vivid. While the art is childlike (of course - that is one of the charms), it is wonderful to see their understanding of the history of the area and how they view events in relationship to size, shape and color.
The plaque reads:
HISTORY OF THE GORE VALLEY
An interpretation of the Gore Valley by its children, ages four to nine years. This project, sponsored by the Eagle Valley Arts council, under the direction and dedication of Rosie Wilt and Randy Milhoan, the Colorado Mountain College, the Summervail Workshop Foundation, and the Town of Vail, was made possible by a matching grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts and Humanities.
