The sculpture, which overlooks the harbor Escuminac commemorates the Escuminac Disaster, a hurricane that killed 35 fishermen in the region of 19 to 20 June 1959.La sculpture depicts three fishermen. Claude Roussel's work was commissioned by Lord Beaverbrook to the tenth anniversary of the tragedy. It was inaugurated June 19, 1969 in the presence of the Premier of New Brunswick, Louis Robichaud, and more than 2000 people. This monument is classified provincial historic site since December 1, 2001.
La sculpture, qui surplombe le port d'Escuminac, commémore le Désastre d'Escuminac, un ouragan ayant causé la mort de 35 pêcheurs de la région, du 19 au 20 juin 1959.La sculpture représente trois pêcheurs. L'œuvre de Claude Roussel fut commandée par Lord Beaverbrook à l'occasion du dixième anniversaire de la tragédie. Elle fut inaugurée le 19 juin 1969 en présence du Premier ministre du Nouveau-Brunswick, Louis Robichaud, et de plus de 2 000 personnes.
