This cross stands where the original cross of the town used to stand. before it was destroyed during one of the battles of Belchite, during the Spanish Civil War, in the late 30's.
Apparently this cross was built by the Republican prisoners, to replace the one blown to pieces during the fight. It didn't matter that the town as a ghost place by then, and a new Belchite was being built just by its side.
