You will need a 4wd to get to this wreck, as the road is rough. It should not be attempted if there have been recent or threatening rains.
This waymark is at the carpark near the wreck of the WW2 USAF B-24D Liberator "Beautiful Betsy"
It is approximately 400 metres from this carpark to the actual wreck site. You are free to wander amongst the wreck.
Please note- This is a war grave, eight men died a tragic death at this location. Their story, and the presumed events of that day, are told onsite by picture boards. There is also a memorial to the 8 airmen. Please treat the area as such. Very heavy penalties apply for removal of artifacts from the site.
This site remained undiscovered for nearly 50 years, the fate of the aircraft and crew one of the mysteries of WW2. It was discovered by accident by a parks ranger during fire prevention work.
