Railway section Oskarshamn-Nässjö was completed in 1874, the same year it was built the original station building in wood. In 1902 got Hultsfred his station building and it sparked some jealousy in Oskarshamn, it was felt that its own station building was relatively too simple. An additional factor that the railway company shortly after the turn of the century began to plan for a new station, and also the former building was constructed without construction permits had been given, and to elevation projects were never submitted to the Planning Committee made it easier to build a new Train Station in Oskarshamn.
The new and much more imposing building was built in the Nordic Renaissance style and was completed and inaugurated in 1906. The architect was George A. Nilsson of Architectural and Building Agency in Stockholm. Railway Station's exterior is well preserved and the building is since 2004 heritage listed. Some parts of the building are changed to flats . On the ground floor, there is still a waiting room left.
