On top of BlueHill on the Canton-Milton line, is Blue Hill Observatory. I was there all day at the open house, where free tours of the facility were offered. During some down time, I drew this rough sketch of the observatory. It took longer than I thought, and I wasn't totally concentrated on only drawing, so the details are missing.

There are all sorts of places where you can set up and draw. There are views all around. There are ledges all around to sit, and there is a single small stone bench near the outdoor weather instruments.

The open house takes place in May or June. The Blue Hill Observatory is the place where the longest continuous daily record in North America is kept. The tower has great views of the surrounding landscape, too.

Great Blue Hill is within the Blue Hills Reservation, which is run by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. There is no fee for entering the reservation. Park at either parking lot off Route 138, and consult the kiosks on the trails up.
Waymark Poster's choice of medium: Lead pencil

Seating options: There is a bench near the instruments pen. There are stone walls and stone ledges also present.
