"On the Capitol grounds at the opposite corner at 24th Street and Central Avenue stands a statue dedicated to those who served in the Spanish American war." (from (
visit link) )
The sculpture is entitled 'Taking the Oath.' There appears to be a bit of the raised right hand missing (fingertips).
The inscriptions read:
Erected to the Memory of
The heroes of the Spanish
American War
by
The State of Wyoming
and
The Ladies Volunteer Aid
Society
Second Regiment
U.S, Vol. Cavalry
First Battalion,
Wyoming Volunteers
Battery A
Wyoming Volunteers
There is a plaque inside the capitol building that lists the soldiers who died in the Spanish American War. I have uploaded a photo of that plaque with the honor roll. The building is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm; closed on state and national holidays.
