Busselton Jetty is the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere with a length of over 1800 metres. At the end is an underwater observatory where visitors can see fish and other marine creatures swimming around the wooden piles, there is a choice of either walking the entire length or catching a train to the end.
Construction of the Busselton Jetty began in 1865 at 161 metres, in 1875 another 130m were added and over the next 90 years further extensions were made to a final length of 1.8 km was achieved
After more than a century of use and servicing over 5000 vessels, the Busselton Jetty officially closed as a Port in 1973.The jetty then fell into disrepair until the community raised sufficient funds to restore it to it's present state
