The Baltic Exhibition was held from 15 May to 4 October 1914 and was an exhibition of industrial achievement, arts and crafts of the Baltic countries, which was attended by Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Russia.

The bridge and road divided the King's Park (Kungsparken) and the old Cemetery (Gamla Kirkogarden) in two. Some graves had to be moved from the route of the road which is why there is now a small section of the graveyard in the King's Park.

The trams stopped running in 1964.
