The 350 years old former toll house in Augst was almost completely destroyed by arson in 2008. Three people were killed in this attack.

The old toll house at the bridge in Augst used to be a night club since the 1990s.
In the night of November 15, 2008, the house was set on fire by the former lover of the club manager. She survived, but three dancers who lived in an apartment above the club were killed. The incident received broad coverage in local and national media. The arsonist was given life sentence in 2011.
The ruin was reconstructed in the original exterior in 2012.
