Das Theater Koblenz ist ein Dreispartentheater aus dem 18. Jahrhundert in Koblenz unweit des Kurfürstlichen Schlosses mit eigenen Ensembles für Schauspiel, Musiktheater und Ballett und bietet 500 Sitzplätze.
Das Theater Koblenz wurde 1787 im Auftrag des Trierer Kurfürsten und Erzbischofs Clemens Wenzeslaus von Sachsen in siebenmonatiger Bauzeit nach Plänen Joh. Andreas Gaertners durch den Architekten Peter-Joseph Krahé in dem damals neuen Stadtteil Neustadt errichtet. Das Theater Koblenz ist der einzige erhaltene klassizistische Theaterbau am Mittelrhein und das früheste erhaltene Beispiel eines Rangtheaters in Deutschland (im Gegensatz zum früheren Logentheater). Das Äußere des Theaters ist durch eine klassizistische Fassade mit Pilastern geprägt. Aufgesetzt ist eine Attika mit erhöhtem Mittelteil, die die lateinische Inschrift "Musis Moribus Et Publicae Laetitiae Erectum MDCCLXXXVII" ("Den Musen, der Sittlichkeit und zur Freude der Öffentlichkeit errichtet 1787") trägt.
The Koblenz Theatre is a three-division theatre from the 18th Century in Koblenz, close to the Electoral Palace with own ensembles for drama, musical theatre and ballet, it has 500 seats.
The Koblenz Theatre was built in 1787 by order of the Archbishop and Elector of Trier Clemens Wenceslaus of Saxony, planned by Joh. Andreas Gaertner, in seven months of construction by the architect Peter-Joseph Krahé in the then new Neustadt district. The Koblenz Theatre is the only remaining classicist theatre on the middle Rhine and the earliest surviving example of a rank theatre in Germany (unlike the previous lodges theatres). The exterior of the theatre is characterized by a classical facade with pilasters. Stacked is an attica with a raised center section, which bears the Latin inscription "Musis Moribus Et Publicae Laetitiae Erectum MDCCLXXXVII" ("To the Muses, the morality and to the delight of the public erected in 1787").
