This mixer is typical of equipment used to pave early highways and may have been used in the actual paving of some portion of Route 66. It becomes plainly evident why early concrete highways were so narrow and the pavement so thin. It took a lot of work, even for this advanced technology of its time, to crank out a few square feet of pavement.
